Bite by Byte

I was really overwhelmed by learning how much Google can do a lot for me (good thing my tear ducts are not functioning or else there'd already be tears lining up my eyelids -- kidding).

I have realized that learning the symbols such as ~, " ", and '-'can really ease my career in the field of communication. This wont just ease but help me a lot. I imagine if Google would be a person, I am picturing a man who is more than willing to help such students like me who don't find time to study effective google searching.

In a world where everything seems to be at hand, it is a lot of help to know the skills in effective google searching. This will help 'information-hunger' generation like me to have the zillion bytes in the Internet

Our week 2 activity! :D

See that picture on the left? That's what I am about to spend the next minutes of my life. Worthwhile it may be or not, it doesn't matter anymore, I need to pass this subject.  (Hi to Ma'am Ina, the coolest CMSC2 Instructor I've met so far)  :D

1. Search results are all the same which ever search engine you chose.

False. Search engines (e.g. Google, Yahoo!, Bing) may have access to the same information but it does not mean that they give same search results.

2. Word order in search query matters.

True. One module in the Internet was right when it did mention that the web isn't magic (http://www.gcflearnfree.org/searchbetter/module/7.1). It cannot understand complex questions because  it is too wide to give us the exact answers that we want to get. A proper word order really matters because there are cases when the topic we are searching is too wide in scope.

3. My answer here is letter 'd'. (Sorry, I can't buy myself time anymore :P)

4. Welche Zeit wird die Sonne aufgehen in Nizza, heute Frankreich? = What time will the sun rise in Nice, France today? See http://translate.google.com.ph/

5. Trivia with a twist. A google a day: If you consecutively slept one night in each room (excluding bathrooms) of the Palace of the Light of Faith, how many years would it take you to sleep in them all? (What is the answer and how did you search it).

The answer is 4.19 years. I learned that Palace of the Light of Faith is actually the biggest house in the world, with 1,531 rooms in it (excluding the bathroom). Now to answer the question, since there are 365 days in a year, I divided 365 from 1,531 which yielded 4.19.


Whoa. What a slow agony it was. That was reaaallly a buuurain duuurain for me. O.o
